TRACK DAY 101

  • MotoCorsa Advanced Rider Training & Safety Schools begin at 7:30 am for sign-up and tech inspection, followed by a mandatory riders meeting at 8:30 am.
  • Alternating 20-minute A, B, and C Group track sessions run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with a lunch break from noon to 1:00 pm.
  • Refreshments and catered lunch are provided at PIR. Lunch is not provided at The Ridge, but food is available for purchase from the infield cafe.
  • Gates open at 7:00 am at PIR. There is no overnight camping.
  • Gates open at 7:00 pm the night before events at The Ridge, and stay open all night. There is no charge for overnight camping in the A Paddock. Garage rentals are available through the racetrack website.
  • At PIR, the first row of the paddock nearest the dragstrip is reserved for MotoCorsa staff. At The Ridge, it's the spots alongside the kart track.
  • All rider safety gear and motorcycles (in that order) must pass tech inspection before entering the track.
  • There are, on average, a dozen riding coaches in attendance so there is no shortage of one-on-one instruction. Just ask one of the guys in the MotoCorsa vests.
  • C Group entry includes mandatory classroom sessions at the top of each hour. Attendance will be taken and anyone who misses class will sit out the next track session!
  • For your safety and the safety of others, group changes (up or down) must be approved by a riding coach and a MotoCorsa official. Riders may also be reassigned in the interest of safety and/or to reduce on-track congestion.
  • Tire support and suspension setup are usually available from on-site vendors, and sometimes we have a photographer. If so, we will try to announce that at the morning riders meeting!
  • Consumption of alcohol or drugs by track day participants is prohibited! Anyone caught imbibing will be escorted from the premises and barred from participating in future MotoCorsa events.
  • Most importantly: Ride safe and HAVE FUN!

RIDER SAFETY GEAR REQUIREMENTS

  • NEW THIS YEAR: Helmets must be full-face style with a full-coverage faceshield, minimum Snell 2020 or ECE 22.06 (ECE 22.05 acceptable with a date stamp of 2020 or newer), and no visible signs of damage.
  • Flip-up "modular" helmets or those incorporating internal sun shields are not permitted.
  • All riders must wear one-piece or two-piece leather suits that zip together at least 3/4 of the way around, with armor at the knees, hips, elbows, and shoulders.
  • One-piece or two-piece textile suits that zip together 3/4 of the way around are allowed in C Group only, and must include armor at the knees, hips, elbows, and shoulders. No mesh suits whatsoever!
  • Full-length, standalone, hard-shelled back protectors are required. Insert, hard-shell, non-full-length back protectors will be permitted in C Group only.
  • Riders with airbag suits can use the built-in back protector that came with it; you do not need to add a supplemental full-length back protector.
  • Full-coverage, armored boots are required, and must substantially overlap the pant legs. No "shorty" ankle-high boots.
  • Full-coverage, armored, gauntlet-style gloves with wrist straps are required. No "shorty" wrist-length or fingerless gloves.
  • Action cameras (GoPro and the like) cannot be mounted on your helmet or body for safety reasons. Motorcycle mounts are acceptable but must be secure.

MOTORCYCLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Motorcycle must be in good mechanical condition with no fluid leaks.
  • Brakes should have a minimum of 50% pad thickness remaining and chain/sprockets should be in good condition.
  • Tires must have a minimum of 75% tread depth and be fully inflated. See attending tire vendor for recommended inflation pressures.
  • Headlight, taillight, turn signals, and reflectors must be taped over if retained on the motorcycle. We find blue painter's tape works best.
  • Mirrors and license plate must be removed.
  • Running distilled water instead of coolant in radiators is recommended, but not required.
  • Safety wire on all fluid-retaining fasteners and brake caliper bolts is likewise recommended, but not required.
  • Show up with a full tank of gas as none is available at the track. There is a gas station close to PIR, but the nearest one to The Ridge is a few miles away.

CANCELLATION POLICY

MotoCorsa track days are held rain or shine. MotoCorsa reserves the right to cancel the event. If an event is cancelled, all paid participants will receive a credit or full refund. Any date changes or cancellations by participants must be made no later than one week prior to the event or payment is forfeit!

RIDING GROUPS

  • EXPERT For very experienced track day riders and racers capable of lapping at a rapid pace. No passing restrictions except for no passing in Turns 7-9 at PIR and Turn 13 at The Ridge (for safety reasons due to limited run-off). Personal coaching is available upon request; just ask one of the instructors in the MotoCorsa vests, all of whom are accomplished racers and can offer you valuable insight.
  • INTERMEDIATE For experienced street and track day riders capable of lapping at a brisk pace. No passing on the first two laps; then courteous inside or outside passes are permitted with a minimum 6-foot gap. No passing in Turns 7-9 at PIR and Turn 13 at The Ridge (for safety reasons due to limited run-off). Personal coaching is available upon request; just ask one of the instructors in the MotoCorsa vests. No racebikes with numbers in the B Group!
  • NOVICE For less experienced street riders looking to improve their skills in a controlled environment. Mandatory classroom instruction and coaching throughout the day. No passing is allowed during the morning follow-the-leader track sessions; after lunch, courteous passing is permitted on the straightaways only
